At ASFA, she trained intensely in Ballet, Pointe, and Contemporary. Continuing her education, Alex attended the University of Alabama receiving her B.A. in Dance and International Studies with honors. During her time at UA, she performed lead roles with the Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre & Dance Alabama in The Nutcracker, La Bayadere, Cinderella, Flames of Paris, Swan Lake , and many more. She received the Gage Bush-Englund Award, Edith Barnes Scholarship Award, and Theatre Gift Fund Scholarship, and additionally received the honor of guest performer at the Alabama Dance Festival and the American College Dance Association. She began as a student when the studio opened in 1998 and was a founding member of our competitive and performance dance team (N2M). She joined our staff as a teacher in 2004, and has discovered a love for teaching almost all styles of dance. Unfortunately, hip hop is not her jam, but she loves and can teach anything else. She specializes in acro, tap, and ballet. She can and has taught all ages, including adults, and currently teaches mainly elementary/early middle school aged dancers. She has a passion for dance and working with children, and she is glad she can combine those passions in a place that is a home away from home. She is also a certified teacher and teaches in an elementary school in the Antioch area. She uses her experience and training from both the school and dance settings to lead our student helpers in TAP (Teachers' Assistants Program), which she rebuilt from the ground up over 15 years ago. Valentine grew up dancing in Atlanta, GA and majored in dance at Appalachian State University. She has received regional choreography awards at TOP, Revolution, Platinum, IDC and Elite Dance Competitions and at Platinum on the national level as well. Her work with Numinous has won many choreographic and artistic awards across the country.
